Prof. (Special) Attapol Yaisawang, Chair of the University Council, together with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Supakorn Pongbangpho, President of the University of Phayao, members of the University Council, and the executive team, participated in a workshop to develop a policy framework for sustainable development of the University of Phayao. This was part of the 5-Year Strategic Plan Review Workshop (Fiscal Years 2026–2030), held from August 15–17, 2025, at Wyndham Hua Hin Pranburi Resort & Villas, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province.

Objectives

The workshop aimed to review the University of Phayao’s 5-Year Strategic Plan and provide an opportunity for senior executives to exchange ideas and experiences, share opinions, and propose strategies for university management. The goal is to ensure alignment with:

• Recommendations from the University Council
• The National Economic and Social Development Plan
• Policies of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation
• The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

The workshop also addressed changes in national and international contexts, serving as a key framework for setting directions and policies for the university’s development during FY 2026–2030. This will help achieve the vision: “A University Creating Wisdom and Community Innovation for Sustainable Global Impact” in a concrete and effective manner.

Workshop Highlights

The event, attended by 65 participants, included members of the University Council and the university’s executive team. Key activities included:

• Policy and development guidelines delivered by the Chair of the University Council and the President
• A keynote lecture by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Varakorn Samakoses, Distinguished Member of the University Council, on “Transitions from the 13th to the 14th National Economic and Social Development Plan”, providing essential insights for aligning the university’s strategies with national development plans.

The workshop also focused on integrating the university’s missions and the FY 2026 Action Plan with flagship initiatives, particularly those promoting Societal Well-being, to drive sustainable development.

The University of Phayao is committed to using the outcomes of this workshop to develop an effective and context-responsive 5-Year Strategic Plan (FY 2026–2030). This plan will guide the university toward tangible progress and position it as an institution that creates sustainable benefits for society at both national and international levels.
