On Friday, December 15, 2023, the Planning Division of the University of Phayao organized a workshop to review the University’s Excellence Development Plan for the Fiscal Year 2024–2043 (20 years). The objective of the workshop was to revise and integrate the plan into actionable strategies efficiently, aiming to achieve the University’s mission of “Wisdom for the Strength of the Community” and the vision of “A Wisdom-Creating University for Community Innovation Toward Global Sustainability.” The opening session was delivered by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Supakorn Phongsabangpho, President of the University of Phayao, and the meeting was officially inaugurated by Prof. Emeritus Attapol Yaisawang, Chair of the University Council, at the Kamolthip Room, The Sukosol Hotel, Bangkok.
The workshop welcomed expert speakers who delivered presentations on various topics, including "Global Changes and Adaptations of Thai Higher Education Institutions" by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Worakorn Samkoset, a distinguished university council member, and "Higher Education Development Plan for Workforce Production and Development" by Prof. Dr. Supachai Pathumnakul, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation. Another notable topic, "Challenges in Developing a University of Excellence in Line with EdPEx Standards," was presented by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Anan Mungwattana, a quality assurance assessor. Additionally, brainstorming sessions were conducted to review the University's 20-year Excellence Development Plan, led by Dr. Wilailuck Ruangrattanatrai and Ms. Sordakorn Pimla from the Strategic and Health Policy Monitoring Division, Ministry of Public Health. A total of 65 university council members and executives participated in this workshop.
Prof. Emeritus Attapol Yaisawang, Chair of the University Council, highlighted that the 20-year Excellence Development Plan is a crucial framework that outlines the future goals, direction, and operational strategies for the University of Phayao over the fiscal years 2024–2043. This plan aligns with the national 20-year strategic plan, and the university will further develop a 5-year operational plan based on the criteria outlined in the Royal Decree on Good Governance (Amendment No. 2) B.E. 2562, enacted on April 30, 2019. Section 16 of this decree mandates that government agencies create a 5-year plan in line with national strategies, master plans, national reform plans, national economic and social development plans, Cabinet policies presented to Parliament, and other relevant plans.
