The ceremony was held at the multipurpose area on the 1st floor of the Office of the President building at the University of Phayao.
The "Sueb Chata" (life-extending) ceremony is a significant northern Thai tradition performed on various auspicious occasions such as birthdays, promotions, housewarming, or after experiencing illness. It is often conducted when fortune tellers predict misfortune or a "life-shortening" fate. The ceremony aims to ward off bad luck and prolong life, ensuring the person stays healthy and safe. The ritual is held in spacious areas to accommodate guests, such as temples, where it may take place in the vihara (main hall), or homes, where it is held in large living areas. This life-extending ceremony is believed to bring prosperity, good health, and continued success in life.
