The University of Phayao aims to be a quality organization with a strategic plan aligned with its vision: "A University of Wisdom, for Community Innovation, with Sustainable Global Reach." Risk management is a critical tool that helps ensure the precision and effectiveness of strategies to achieve this goal. This practice enables departments and the organization to cope with rapidly changing societal contexts, challenges, and new opportunities that may impact the strategic objectives. The focus is on leveraging risk management to create opportunities and value in a stable and secure manner.
The Risk Management and Internal Control Workshop is a key initiative for leaders and risk management practitioners to increase awareness and exchange knowledge. Participants will analyze risk management and internal control plans that align with current major risk trends, focusing on proactive risk management mechanisms. Additionally, they will establish a systematic connection between data and information across departments. All units under the university’s governance play a vital role in fostering a culture of risk management within their operations, which is essential for mitigating risks that may affect the achievement of the university’s mission.
Recognizing the importance of supporting and developing risk management and internal control processes across the organization, the Planning Division has organized this workshop, taking place from October 24–25, 2024, at the Active Learning Classroom, Integrated Learning Building (CE), University of Phayao. The event is presided over by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Supakorn Phongbangpho, President of the University of Phayao, with the report delivered by Ms. Thitiporn Maneejunsuk, Director of the Planning Division. The workshop has attracted participants from 40 internal university units, totaling 120 people, including university executives, faculty executives, unit managers, and risk management practitioners. The keynote speaker and trainer for the event is Mr. Natthaphat Lopraditphong, a National Quality Award (TQA) assessor with extensive knowledge and experience in developing risk management and internal control processes.
The workshop aims to raise awareness and prepare the university and its departments by supporting strategic planning and developing risk management and internal control plans. It includes practical exercises to analyze gaps in risk management planning, as well as monitoring and evaluating performance following the COSO Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) 2017 guidelines. This is to prepare for uncertain future events that may impact the university’s mission objectives. Additionally, it promotes the university and its departments' ability to adapt to diverse risks and new opportunities while fostering a culture of appropriate risk management and internal control.
